La primera vez que se publicó el Principito en Rusia fue en francés.  El libro se publicó en 1958 e iba destinado al aprendizaje de esa lengua en las escuelas, venía con explicaciones en ruso.  Se imprimieron 18.000 ejemplares y el editor fue Издательство литературы на иностранных языках (Editor de literaturas en lenguas extranjeras).

La traducción en ruso  ( Malen´kii prints Маленький принц ) se realizó en el mismo año por Eleonora Yakovlevna Galperina más conocida como Nora Gal (1912-1991) https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nora_Gal pero el libro sólo salió al mercado en 1959 cuando el magazine Mockba https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moskva_(magazine) lo publicó con una tirada de 43.000 ejemplares. El magazine mide 170 x 260 mm y contiene 224 páginas sin ilustraciones. Segunda libro por arriba.

En 1960 la traducción sale en tres medios, el primero de forma clandestina como samizdat que proviene de la raíz sam (en ruso: сам, “por sí/uno mismo”) e izdat [en ruso: издат, apócope de издательство (izdátelstvo) “editorial”], significando por lo tanto, “auto-publicación” https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samizdat Estos libros normalmente se pasaban de mano en mano entre amigos, la producción era peligrosa  porque las imprentas, copiadoras y hasta las máquinas de escribir estaban bajo control directo de los “Primeros Departamentos” y según el samizdat que tuvieras las consecuencias podían ser nefastas. Apuntar también que el uso de esos libros venía determinado en otros casos por el hecho de que la gente no disponía de dinero para comprar las versiones oficiales que normalmente eran más costosas. El libro es el rojo, tiene 108 páginas y es actualmente bastante difícil de encontrar.

En el mismo año el Principito fue publicado por КРУГЛЫЙ ГОД (Krugliy god) que se traduce como Todo el año, un almanaque que en 1960 anunciaba lo que se podía esperar para 1961, la traducción se encuentra entre biografías de personajes ilustres, avances tecnológicos, incluso viñetas de Mickey Mouse.

Otro medio que publicó el libro ese año y esta vez sin ser compartido con otros libros fue la edición de Pravda
Moskva, con traducción de Nora Gal y en un formato bastante pequeño de 128 x 166 mm, de tapa blanda y simple, el libro no viene con todas las ilustraciones y se imprimieron 150.000 ejemplares. Es el segundo de la parte inferior de la fotografía.

Finalmente en 1963 Molodaja Gvardija publicó el libro en formato original, con los derechos cedidos por Gallimard, con todas las ilustraciones y a color, la cubierta diseñada por Paul Bonet y de tapa dura, 95 páginas, 300.000 ejemplares y siempre con la traducción excelsa y atemporal de Nora Gal.

The significance of this edition lies in the facts that this is a joint publication of Cre-A and the French Institute and Alliance Française Chennai and that the text is in the older script of the Tamil language. I must explain the second point. In 1977 the government of Tamil Nadu introduced a few changes in the Tamil script and the citizens did not take that script immediately. The publishers wanted to see the acceptance of the script by the public. So, in 1981 when they printed the first edition they used the older script. Only a few years later, finding that the changes in the script were stablished they switched over to the new script. Print run 1.100 copies.

This is for me the most beautiful book of my collection, the book I appreciate more, probably the reason of everything ! And the reasons are several but the most important is because  the two amazing woman I´ve found during my research, Poupak Sebti and Shirin Maleki. In fact this website is a dedicatory to them, without their help I would never start again to walk the path of The Little Prince after selling my collection in 2011.

So thank you Poupak and Shirin it is an honor and joy and privilege to be here with you.

Other reasons because I feel it is so important is because I still remember the moment when my friend told me that she has found a translation dated on 1954. 1954 ???, no !!! she probably made a mistake, all the data I found during my research said that the First Persian edition was published in 1968, how come show up a publication 14 years before I expected ? Well I believed it was a misunderstanding among Persian calendar and Gregorian so I made a bad calculation between 1968 AD - 1347 and 1954-1333,  Poupak chat:

-“Guess what…I am holding the very first edition of LPP translated by Mohammad Ghazi published in 1954  in my hands!!!!”

- 1954 ?

- “Yep! It is published in May 1954 by Iranian Library (Ketabkhan-e Iran) publishing Co…see the pic in the next mail….it is soo cute…old with yellow papers!” 

BOOOOOMMM !!! my mind blow ! the chronology of the translations of The Little Prince what I believe is very important to have it in order suffered a drastic change, it that means that the Persian translation was one of the first to be done after the First edition published in 1943.

How come that was possible ? my research to find the 1968 edition may be counted on that time 500 hours ? I don´t know, so many months may be a year or more. And now my friend is telling me that she found a 1954 edition ? !!! well it is difficult to explain what is the feeling, the sensation,  I think this is one of the facts that make the collection of The Little Prince so unique and exciting because make you feel all kind of different emotions that nothing else can give you. To find  this book was probably the highlight of my collection because had a perfect mix: time, effort, meeting super interesting friends and at the end an amazing surprise. What else I could say,…? well, yes, money will never give you that. Offering money in the first line will never allow you to find these kind of books.
